I am Jonathan Mullins an English major with a concentration in literature. I am from Winchester, VA, and transfered in from Laurel Ridge Commounity College formerly, LFCC. My pursuit of BA in English has led me to the literary field of post-colonial Studies, which I plan to focus in graduate school. That field of study is not the only thing my degree has led me to, as I am taking this course, ENGH 375, as part of the dynamic publishing minor.
I am taking ENGH 375, Web Authoring and Design, as part of the dynamic publishing minor, so my main goal for this class is to understand the proccesses and work that go into the digital realm of publishing. After the first day of this class, I am begining to understand it takes more than working with manuscripts and authors to be within the modern world of publishing. To rephrase, I think my true goal for this class is to understand how websites and the internet work to gain a better understanding of authoring on it.
Coming into this class, my main strenghts are analytical writing, editiing, and working within team projects in any role that needs filled. Rhetorically aware writing is a skill I have become better at, after taking some writing and rhetoric classes, but it is not as strong as I want it to be.
In short, what I want out of this class is a new understanding of myself as a writer, and an understanding of a different context in which to write. I beleive I will get both of those out this class.
