Seeking to Understand

Religion, Horror, and Morality

A scrapbook page featuring Jesus and the deomn Asmodeus.

This is an essay that I wrote back in my sophmore year of college, but am rather fond of. It does not have a lot to do with post-colonial theory, but it is on here because this is the essay that allowed me to figure out the best way for me to integrate outside sources into my own work. The essay is an analysis of M.R. James' "Canon Alberic's Scrapbook," through the lense religous confltict and fascination. I study the piece thorugh the lense of James' life and research as an antiquarian, Anglican, and man of research.
